Coffee enthusiasts will tell you that there is nothing better than a fresh cup of deliciously roasted coffee in the morning, with breakfast. However, on weekends, there is a need for something a little more special to celebrate the wonderful occasion of being alive on a Saturday or Sunday morning.
Sure, Bloody Mary cocktails will always have a spot on a great weekend brunch spread, but now that summer is right around the corner, you need something light, sweet, and sparkly to match the mood of the season. Breakfast wine, more specifically prosecco, is the perfect way to start off your day.
Traditional wine in the morning might be frowned upon and people may question if you have a drinking problem (unfairly, of course). But, when you pop a bottle of prosecco before noon, everyone will cheer because who doesn’t love it, right? Whether you’re just making a simple breakfast or a decked-out spread fit for a king, breakfast wine drinks with prosecco are the perfect addition.
In Europe, breakfast is often accompanied by a white or light red wine in the morning. Spain, France, and Italy are known for their affection for wine and view it as more than a vessel for getting drunk. Food and wine breakfasts are an intricate part of everyday life that brings together family and friends to share great experiences.
Here in America, we still hold certain meals with the same importance, and brunch is one of those meals. We gather our friends and/or family and head to that special spot to indulge in fantastic food and drink, starting in the morning and finishing in the afternoon.

This cocktail is perfectly sweet and bubbly that can even be enjoyed at brunch or when celebrating. Blackberries and thyme create a unique and refreshing flavor combination that pairs well with just about anything.
- 1/3 c. blackberries plus some for garnishing
- 1/3 c. water
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 bottle of Zonin Prosecco
- 4 sprigs of fresh thyme
Directions: Bring the blackberries, sugar, and water to boil in a saucepan, let it simmer for 10 mins to allow the sugar to dissolve and blackberries to cook down into a syrup. Add 2 tbsp of blackberry syrup in each champagne flute and top with prosecco. Finish each drink with a sprig of fresh thyme and a few whole blackberries.
Grapefruit Rosemary Sparkler
Few things scream summer quite like fresh citrus juice, and this cocktail brings out the very best flavors. The rosemary is optional but, in our opinion, it adds unique flavor complexity to this brunch drink.
- 4 c. freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
- 2-3 c. sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 sprigs of rosemary
- Zonin Prosecco
Directions: Mix grapefruit juice, sugar, and salt together in a saucepan, bring to boil, and then reduce the heat and simmer mixture for 20-30 min. Strain syrup to remove any remaining pulp, then add lemon and vanilla. Once cooled and chilled, pour syrup (2-3 tbsp) into each glass and top off with prosecco, a sprig of rosemary, and a grapefruit weel.
